Excellent instrumental Christmas album. Very unique. This will get you into the Christmas spirit quickly.
My mother was a Ventures' fan when I was born. This is fun, not gospel or Trans-Siberian. They are close to the real Christmas song and its great.
They do a fabulous job that's how they do it. The only catch I've found is at the end of Frosty the Snowman, I want to say Tequila. She bought this LP wondering "how on earth can they do Christmas".
I have purchased CD's for many friends/family that I turned onto this album. I was also raised on Johnny Mathis' Merry Christmas LP and that's wonderful too. The Ventures' didn't try to change their style - if you are familiar with their music, then you hear a touch of Walk Don't Run, Diamond Head, Tequila, etc.
Highly recommend this to people who are light hearted and like original "rock/pop" instrumentals. Its for a rockin' good time.
Disco antiguo pero con música navideña muy buena y un estilo único. La verdad lo recomiendo para todos a los que les guste la musica navideña con estilo.
However the Razor & Tie label issue of this CD shows the original Ventures drummer Dewey Johnson, who was NOT on this record & left due to an auto accident early in the groups career. Its 43 years later, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2008, the Ventures have been an active touring band for 50 years. This is the classic Ventures Xmas album recorded in 1965 on their orignial label Dolton Records. Classic Ventures line up Mel Taylor, drums, Bob Bogle bass, Don Wilson rythmn guitar & the great Nokie Edwards lead guitar. While both in their 70's Don Wilson & Nokie Edwards still tour. Both still play at a high professional level. We saw them live in April 2008 @ Epcot/Disneyworld & they were nothing short of terrific.
Mi mom love this album, then i love too. when i was a child i heard this album all chritmas season.
